4 out of 5 stars Proc   March 7, 2010

Intel there is no equal, This proc is wonderful and is a workhorse, just be sure to reset the clock in bios or it will just run way below its parameters

4 out of 5 stars Great CPU for P45 chipset   February 25, 2010
J. Z. Arce (Palmares, Costa Rica)
This review is for:Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 3.0 GHz 12M L2 Cache 1333MHz FSB LGA775 Quad-Core Processor
I'm not an expert in computer things, but by December 2009 and January 2010 I armed two computers by myself (my first time). I was lucky, no big problems, thanks to Amazon, great service...

This CPU is great inside Intel Core2Quad family. Its performance is very good, the best performance for a MB with Chipset Intel P45 (if you have a X48 or 790Ultra MB, you have to see your wallet and get some Extreme Edition CPU, QX9650).

I think that if you already have a system with a Intel CPU LGA775, this processor is the best upgrade. Buy it if you dont want a all new system. In that case, I think the system based on P55 would be better choice.

The box by Intel comes with a Chip(CPU) and a (litle) heatsink, I never used it but I think it could be good. A beautiful sticker too.

I fully recommend this CPU. It's great upgrade in your LGA775 motherbooard, especially if it have a DDR3 memory subsystem...

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding 775 Chip!   October 21, 2009

I decided to upgrade my E6600 before jumping to Windows 7 this week. The results are amazing. Temps run around 90 degrees F with a Thermaltake MozartTX case (w extra fans) and a Thermaltake hi rise CPU cooler at full load and less than room temperature at idle!

The main advantage for me was in the encoding speed. I regularly use my PC to encode movies for my Archos 7. With the E6600 I was able to encode full resolution h.264 movies at 1250kbps at 25fps using Handbrake. The Q9650 encodes at 98fps. Simply amazing. A good quick drop-in upgrade for those looking to hold off on a i7 upgrade.

Slapped this chip in a 790i with a Swiftech GTZ water block. It's a lot faster, and cooler then my Q6600, got it stable up to 4.3ghz

Awesome processor. Handling Vista 64bit. Performance is unbelievable! Glad I bought it when I did, hard to find again at the same price.
