Amazon.com Product Description Put your headphones in storage and enjoy full freedom of movement while listening to your iPod with the Altec Lansing iM11 mobile iPod speaker system. The iM11 comes with a built-in docking station that not only holds most dock-connecting iPods, but also syncs and charges them, so you don't need to independently connect your iPod to your Mac or PC to sync your iTunes playlists. More importantly, the speaker system sounds deeper and more robust than you'd expect thanks to the integrated MaxxBass technology, which delivers quality bass without a subwoofer. The iM11 is a must for backyard parties and beach barbecues, as it not only folds up into a compact 8.5-by-4.3-by-1.4 inch footprint (W x H x D), but also runs for hours on four AA batteries (not included). Other details include an auxiliary input for connecting a second audio device, such as an MP3 player, personal CD player, or portable DVD player; a universal power supply for listening at home; and a protective carrying bag for easy transport. Compatible with the iPod 3G, iPod 4G, iPod mini, iPod photo, iPod video, and iPod nano, the iM11 weighs a mere 14 ounces and is backed by a one-year warranty. Decent sound for price, does not charge the Nano 4G December 26, 2008 Christopher Miller (Slingerlands, NY USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered an iM11 for my daughter to go with her new iPod Nano 4G. It has decent sound for a speaker dock at that price level, but I was unpleasantly surprised to find out that it wont charge the Nano. I'll have to get my daughter a different unit and keep this one as a spare. Avoid this is you have the new skinny Nano 4G.
good item for the price December 14, 2008 Frank Schrek (boynton beach,fl.) I find the Altec Lansing iM11 inMotion Mobile Speaker System, has true sound to a i-pod quality.I am able to hear my music thru-out the house.I AM VERY PLEASED AND USE IT OFTEN.
Pretty good bang for the buck November 24, 2008 T. Klein (San Diego, CA) My wife and I decided to purchase this for my baby boy's bedroom. The good news is for the price it's hard to beat. The cons are it DOES NOT charge my nano. This is a pain. The volume control is a little cheap and difficult to set to the right volume. Other than that I have no complaints. We may purchase another unit that can charge the iPod that will stay in his room and utilzie this one for traveling. I can't think of a better unit to use for traveling. It is small, light, and works pretty well.
Good performance for the price June 27, 2008 Eagle Vision (Southeastern United States) Looking for a small set of speakers for my IPOD in my office, I found this little set of speakers by Altec Lansing. I set it up without reading the manual. Simply push the button, mount the IPOD and push the power button. A volume control in the upper right hand edge is simplicity in the making.
The volume is decent from a small set of speakers and no distortion is noted with various artists. I even watched a movie on the IPOD, while at work (SHHHH! It was at the end of the day, anyways).
The footprint is compact, with a glossy black finish. Construction is solid but I don't think it is impact resistant.
No remote control feature here.
However, if you need a compact set of speakers, this is the best value.
Broke after 1 year January 29, 2008 Trivia Hunter (West Chicago, IL United States) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This unit sounds good, but after 1 year it suddenly won't turn on anymore. One would expect it to last longer.
