Product Description JBL On Stage II, a compact, high-performance sound system, is a revolution in personal sound for all iPod players. Connected to your iPod, MP3 player or other music source, JBL On Stage II will provide clean, powerful sound. The wireless RF remote control provides the freedom to enjoy your music from across the room or in another room, or outside, from up to 50 feet. Play, pause, forward track and reverse track... all at your fingertips. A simple press will increase or decrease volume, mute and more. A convenient clip keeps the remote handy, as you move about your environment.
Amazon.com Product Description Set your music free as only JBL can do it with the black On Stage II iPod speaker system. The compact yet powerful high-performance system employs a quartet of Odyssey neodymium full-range drivers to fill your room with clear, accurate sound and all the volume you (and your friends and neighbors) can handle. It's the perfect accessory for bedrooms, smallish apartments, basements, and any other space where a full-size speaker system is pure overkill. The On Stage II incorporates Apple's universal iPod dock adapter, which works with most docking versions of the iPod, including the iPod video 5G and 5.5G and the iPod nano 1G and 2G. Simply slide your iPod into the dock and you're set--no additional cords to connect or adapters to fuss with. As an added convenience, the On Stage II also offers an auxiliary input for connecting a variety of other portable audio devices, including the iPod shuffle, personal MP3 and CD players, desktop and laptop computers (all platforms), and satellite radio receivers. As long as your portable audio device has a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack connection, you can play the audio through your On Stage II speaker. As a bonus, the On Stage II comes with a wireless remote control, giving you the freedom to enjoy your music from across the room or in another room--up to 50 feet away (including through walls). The system itself, meanwhile, includes easy-to-use touch controls for the volume and mute, and even remembers your last volume setting after it shuts down. The system, which offers a frequency response of 80 Hz to 20 kHz, measures 7 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall and weighs 1 pound. It's also backed by a one-year warranty. What's in the Box On Stage II speaker system, wireless remote control, power cord, user's manual.

Works very well! August 22, 2008 Julie A. Kolkmeyer (chicago) I've been using this speaker for a couple months now and it looks great and sounds great. I like that it's not larger than necessary. It fits well on my tv stand. I haven't used it outside, but for in my home, I love it. The remote works very well, even if it's not pointed directly at the unit. I plan on purchasing another for my bedroom. As long as you aren't planning on using it for a party of 200 people in a huge room, it's a great buy!
Nice little product which lacks bass August 19, 2008 D'Silva (Los Angeles, California United States) First of all I'm a big time JBL fan. I recently replaced all my car speakers with JBL and just love them.
Coming back to the "JBL On Stage II"... this is a nice little product. Wanted something to actually hook my ipod into after getting back from work to charge it. The unit is simple to setup and I did not find the adapter too bulky. It comes with an remote and has a nice feature to lock it if you are not using the remote.
I have 2 complaints against this product: #1. This unit lacks bass. I played songs heavy on bass and was not impressed. #2. The equalizer settings on my ipod does not have any effect when playing music through this system.
Something else I noticed was unusual... I have this unit hooked to my computer. When I switch the unit OFF (with my computer being ON) the ipod still remains ON showing that it is being charged.
JBL Speaker System August 13, 2008 E. Ekhart (IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought this speaker docking system for our son's room - we wanted something with good sound but also something that was small and stylish. This fit's the bill - The speakers sound much better than other system's within the price range. The black docking system seemed to be selling for almost half as much then the white or pink one - no idea why. the reasons I didn't not give this item 5 starts is that 1. It HAS to be plugged in to the wall to work - it would be nice if it had a battery option that was it would actually be portable. 2. Although the speakers sound good, it's no Bose system, but for the price we think it was a good buy. 3. The speakers sound good to a point, we use the system on a low volume, it doesn't sound great when you turn the speakers up to a loud volume. Hope this helps.
Great sound but not for the iPhone July 31, 2008 Buffy (Washington DC) The sound on this little system is great, and the price, and the footprint, are just right. I was not surprised, but disappointed, that it does not work with my iPhone. Though the phone fits in the dock, I get an error message on the phone and a lot of feedback noise.
It is perfect for listening to my regular iPod around the house. It would be even better if it had an alternate battery source as well as the plug, for outdoor, travel, etc. I love that it charges the iPod while in the base.
Good little speaker July 29, 2008 K. Hoover (St. Petersburg, FL) This product has done exactly what I bought it for- allow me to plug in my iPod and listen to it from any room. I have a 2 bedroom apartment and I can hear it from the farthest corners (as long as TVs, etc aren't on as well). Like other reviewers have said, the bass leaves a little to be desired, but for such a small, convenient speaker at this price, it's not a big deal. The remote is great, it has worked well from the distances I need it (across a 15' or so room). And the speaker I ordered comes with adapters for every type of iPod, I have a 2nd generation nano and it fits nicely in the adapter dock provided. I even plugged my iPhone into it when I first got it and it worked fine. It is not battery operated, so you must have an outlet nearby to plug it into, but this also means it charges your iPod even while it plays, also a nice feature. It is a minor inconvenience to have to unplug and replug in the speaker if you want to move it to another room, but it's not like it's heavy or large at all, very portable. Excellent speaker for the price and size.
