4 out of 5 stars Great Earbuds!!!   January 5, 2009

I own a Zune 30gig and listen to a lot of music. I also play bass guitar so I like to hear clear crisp sound and these buds deliver!

Previously, I used several different high end Sony head phones and these blow them out of the water. Much better sound isolation and they are very loud. I can turn my Zune down to 5-6 and hear perfectly. They delivery bright crisp sound with deep bass. Might not be the buds for you if you are sensitive to the lower bass frequencies. I also like the look and feel, very sexy and the chord doesn't feel like a piece of crap.

Pros:
-Great Sound Quality
-Great bass definition
-Premium Quality Cable
-Different Size earbuds included

Cons:
-Leather case is kinda novelty
-The little R and L letters are partially hidden by the rubber buds

Would I purchase again? YES !!!

3 out of 5 stars good sound quality, but not durable   January 5, 2009

Other reviews have already gone into detail about the sound quality, which for the most part, I agree with. The sound is really good - I have enjoyed using these earbuds.

However, the main (large) reason for my 3-star review is that I find that one needs to really baby these headphones which is absolutely unacceptable for a pair of earphones going for $101 retail.

I bought the La Mocha edition (when the headphones were still offered with the usual soft and kinda of sticky rubber encasing) in Oct 2007. I've been using it for over a year, and unfortunately have gone through 2 sets already even after all of that excessive babying. I had to send the first pair back in April 2008 because the wires were becoming exposed at the back of the earbuds, and now my 2nd pair is doing the exact same thing. Only now, I'm outside of V-moda's 1 year warranty. For the amount of money, I had expected these to last me more than a couple of years, at the minimum... My brother has purchased the newer vibe earbuds with the thread encasing, and so far he is having better luck than I am.

This is a smaller issue and perhaps this might just come with the general earbud territory: my pet peeve with these earbuds is that I have to be constantly aware of the whereabouts of silicone fittings. They have the tendency to come off - a lot. I only had to reorder the fittings once (the smallest is the only that fits me), but have manage since to find them whenever they popped off the earbuds.

I hope those with the newer editions are having a better experience with the vibe's durability than I am.

5 out of 5 stars WOW! I didn't even realize what I was missing   January 4, 2009

I love these earbuds. I just got rid of a pair of Shure E2c earbuds and I like these ones much better. Good bass and good highs and mids, great overall sound and they are very comfortable and they don't fall out. The shure E2c's had to loop over your ear and I found this a little annoying. The V-Moda buds stick right in your ear and fit my ears very nicely. They seem to be made well and the ones I got have the cord coming off the audio jack at an angle which I believe is the newer redesigned model that fixes the problem with the cord coming loose from the jack. I am happy with my purchase and as always amazon had them on my doorstep in 2 days with my Amazon prime shipping.

1 out of 5 stars Epidemic lack of quality please read the reviews before buying!!   December 30, 2008

These headphones look great and sound quality is great. But mine lost sound in the left ear after 2 weeks! That is completely unacceptable. I wish I had read the reviews before buying. Apparently this happens with great frequency. Save $50 and much aggravation and check out the Sony Fontopia's. Those lasted me a year which prior to this was dissapointing. I spent the extra money for increased durability and was completely wrong. You don't get what you pay for. Avoid V-Moda like the plague!

5 out of 5 stars Tried countless earbuds...these are amazing!   December 28, 2008

Well...I am no true audiophile, but I am a regular guy who LOVES to listen to great quality sound out of my iPod. I run about 7,000 songs through my iPod classic and have (with that many differet songs) a HUGE variety of music to choose from.

I tried Shure E2cs, Etymonics, Sennheisers and Sonys. I was frustrated by the lack of comfort and also the lack of depth in the sound. I read review after review after review and unfortunately trying on earphones on-line is like trying on shoes on-line...you just can't tell based on peoples reviews. Everyone has different preferences in their sound and the desired response they are looking for in their phones. Well...I finally found a pair that hit the nail on the head.

These things are comfortable and lightweight. Don't let the "metal" look they have fool you...they are quite light and fit in my ear beautifully. And the sound...they hit everything with power that I could imagine I would want to hear. Clear highs and solid and full mids are accentuated by powerful and confident lows.

Everything from Jushua Bell playing violin to things like Madonna and Justin Timberlake saving the world in 4 minutes and literally EVERYTHING in between...they fit the bill for me and I would replace them in a heartbeat if I lost the pair that I am using today.
