2 out of 5 stars ok but not great   August 28, 2008

The stupidest thing about this monitor is the base has this stupid lip on it that prevents you from positioning the keyboard close in front of the monitor. I have this monitor at work and I wanna smack the guy that invented the base. The picture is OK but not great.

5 out of 5 stars Great HD Monitor for a fair price   August 30, 2007

This is a great widescreen monitor, response time is great even for the fastest FPS gamer. Crystal clear colors and low luminescence for those after hours gaming experience.

Also great for movies and photoshop.

5 out of 5 stars 4 Star monitor   July 17, 2007

I read a lot of reviews on various sites before purchasing this monitor. The image quality is spectacular. The built in speakers weren't an issue for me because I already had the outstanding Z-2300 Logitech speakers. I've read many, many reviews about the DVI cable not being included with the monitor so I ordered one at the same time as my monitor. Well, the monitor DID come with the DVI cable. Maybe this is something new that Viewsonic has addressed. So, I would advise to wait until your monitor arrives to see if a DVI cable is packaged in with it. One complaint though. My monitor is tilted down slightly on the left hand side. It was annoying enough that I had to stick a few small felt pads on the bottom base of the monitor to level it out. Oh and the bright blue LED light in the front is a little bit annoying as well. It's too bright. You may want to put a piece of tape or something over it.

Revised 7/23/07. I needed to update my review. Perhaps I was too hasty to give this monitor 5 stars. I've noticed that when the screen is black or during dark scenes in a game or movie the monitor suffers severely from clouding. If you're not familiar with the term this is something common in LCD (monitor & TV)screens where the back lighting of the monitor shows through where it shouldn't making the black level of the screen gray instead of black. I have a huge clouded area on the right hand side of the monitor and a smaller clouded area on the left hand side. This is the reason I've held off on buying an expensive LCD TV until manufacturers can figure out how to solve this issue. The picture is still great when not having to deal with this issue. It's not often that the screen is dark and I notice the clouding but I obviously wouldn't have purchased the monitor if I could have tested it first. The clouding issue will vary per monitor. You may get one that has no clouding at all.

4 out of 5 stars Good display with some quirks   July 11, 2007

Very good brightness and clarity, but occasionally it gets stuck in a mode with the wrong aspect ratio and the only way to fix is pull up the Intel graphics card settings GUI to reset it -- maybe that's just my graphics card. The other complaint is that with the large speaker boxes at the bottom of the frame, the appearance of the monitor is more clunky than I would like for a flat LCD screen.

5 out of 5 stars Good Picture Bad Sound   July 5, 2007

The monitor is a delight to look at and use - 5 star. The sound is almost useless - 1 star. This monitor is used with a Macbook, Apple wireless keyboard Apple wireless mouse and Logitech speakers. The combo is cheaper than the Macbook Pro. It works like a desktop computer and I can take the laptop with me.
