5 out of 5 stars no problems here   August 29, 2008

I'm not a professional picture editor, and you probably aren't either. Everyone who has seen this monitor in my home has commented favorably on it, and I have to say that I'm quite satisfied.

Chances are, if you are looking for a terrific monitor at a price that won't bankrupt you, this may be it. I haven't seen any of the problems that some of the reviewers have claimed. Bigger is better, and I'm not complaining.

4 out of 5 stars Well worth the risk, DO IT !   August 5, 2008

After using dual monitors for the last ten years it is such a relief to be able to use just one again. Not having that line in the middle is great! It Plays HD full screen and everything fits.

I actually keep some windows like email, web and word.doc about 1/2 size and centered. Most web pages are not designed to expand to HD size and some programs work better in smaller windows.

With 3D modeling, animation, video editing and graphics you give up a tiny bit of detail moving from a CRT but what you get in return is so worth it. I can finally fit everything in one monitor, see it and use it.

Being able to see more of your 3D model and get closer to it helps a lot. This ability is invaluable. This monitor is like having four full screen views of a quad and when switching to single screen you see everything and more. What a pleasure! You can see so much more of what you are doing. It makes the creation process go so much faster.

I would like to be able to remove the base of the monitor as my desk is the perfect height for viewing and resting my elbows. You wouldn't think 3-7 inches would make a difference but it does. I might have to cut the desk legs down or break the base off. Not sure which way to go with that yet.

I am glad the speakers are build in but would rather have a smaller frame. The frame would look better a a flat black rather than a shiny reflective gloss black.

The menu is a bit limited and I have not grasped why some features are grayed out when you try to use them. Not a lot of adjustment is necessary as it works just fine.

I had some trouble with HDMI out from the video card to HDMI in on the monitor. It pushes the image off screen 2 inches on all sides. So plan to use the dvi/vga input cable instead. This was with the Nvidia 9800 GX2. Maybe HDMI input works with other video cards?

With a blank screen and a solid color you can see a c shaped gradient on all sides from a distance; however, when up close as in normal use with a program open everything appears as a solid color. I am not sure why this happens?

Many years ago I paid $800 each for two 17 inch flat screen CRTs and many years after that, 600 each for two 19 inch CRTs before I purchased this one 28 inch wonder. I was scared to do it. I almost purchased two 20s for 250 each but took a gamble on this one. It was a little weird getting used to one monitor again but EVERYTHING is so much better. I will never go back to dual monitors again !!

I am looking forward to the 2K version . . .

2 out of 5 stars o.k. monitor - horrible serivce/warranty support   July 10, 2008

This monitor is o.k., it's Viewsonic warranty support that is shoddy at best. After 10 months mine developed a line of dead pixels top to bottom. They approved my unit for "express replacement". It took a month for them to order a replacement, they kept saying they had "inventory problems". Then they tell me it'll be another 10-15 working days for delivery. A month and a half to replace it, under express replacement - save yourself the aggravation, look elsewhere.

5 out of 5 stars This is a great monitor period   April 26, 2008

First, I must admit, reading some of the other reviewer's comments with respect to this monitor planted some seeds of doubt in my mind. I even considered canceling the order. However, after plugging this wonderful piece of screen real estate in I am enamored. I use it with the Nvidia GeForce eVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB DDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card-Lifetime Warranty video card(640 mb) and I don't see any banding, gray areas, or loss of color. This is a great monitor end of review.

Perhaps some of the people complaining about this product should list their computer setup. It may not be the monitor; it may be your video card.

5 out of 5 stars Really Good.   April 23, 2008

I am a Video Game Developer who was in desperate need of a larger display. Well, I ask around for large display monitors that are high end but affordable.

Turns out - Viewsonic was exactly what I needed. And in truth, I am extremely happy with this monitor. I replaced a Samsung 22-Inch Syncmaster Widescreen with this and couldn't be happier. I now have two extremely good monitors - 1 for each computer. The syncmaster will go to my other PC - and this is becoming my main monitor. I love it so much. I recommend this to anyone who is looking to upgrade to a high end - large monitor any day of the week.

ChronoForge 4D Studios gives this monitor its quality seal of approval! - Thumbs up! ^^
